1 tube Pillsbury Grands Buttermilk Biscuits
1 can Oregon Fruit Red Tart Pie Cherries in Water
3 Tbs cornstarch
½ cup sugar
¼ tsp almond extract (opt)
2-3 drops red food coloring (opt)
1 Tbs milk
1 Tbs sugar
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Drain the cherries and reserve 1/3 cup juice
Whisk the cornstarch and sugar in a small saucepan. Add the juice and whisk over medium heat until the slurry is thick and clear. Add optional ingredients and gently fold in cherries. On a lightly floured board, roll the biscuits out to about 1/8 thick. Add about heaping teaspoons of filling and fold over the dough, sealing the edges with a fork. Repeat with all 8 biscuits. Place on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper or silpat. Brush with milk and sprinkle with sugar.
Bake about 10 minutes or until golden brown.
